El Camino Real, This plaque was placed on the 250th anniversary of the birth of Padre Junipero Serra, O.F.M. to mark the northern terminus of El Camino Real. 1713 - November 24 - 1963. California Registered Historical Landmark Number 784. |
Mission San Francisco de Asis (Mission Dolores). This edifice begun in 1788, was dedicated August 2, 1794. An adobe structure in use since that time, it is the oldest building in San Francisco. |
Fray Francisco Palou, O.F.M., C. 1722-1789. Founder of Mission San Francisco de Asis; distinguished son of Spain; missionary in the Sierra Gorda Lower California and at Carmel; President of Missions in Mexico and California; Zealous Missionary; able administrator; resourceful pioneer; chosen companion and biographer of Junipero Serra.
